about

Yoga avec Heather is set in a magical place called Presqu'île de Crozon, a beautiful peninsula in Brittany.  Open since 2018, I teach as a freelance teacher through local associations such as Yoga Presqu'île or ULAMIR in community halls .  I also teach independently from a school hall, the stunning local beaches, my home or yours.

My classes are taught in various formats, and are adapted to the needs of the individual ensuring a safe practice that respects and celebrates everyone's diversity and uniqueness.

  • Public and private group classes

  • Private one-on-one

  • Children's schools

  • Retreats and workshops

  • Yoga in the workplace

The world of yoga is rich in techniques, philosophies, and styles and the path of learning is like a journey of endless discovery.  I chose to train and to teach in several styles:

  • Vinyasa (gentle flow and dynamic)

  • Yin & restorative

  • Vinyasa & Yin

  • Nidra

  • Prenatal & postnatal, mother & baby

  • Yoga for kids

I truly love to share the knowledge I have gathered over time and to provide an environment where each yogi finds their place pf comfort, contentedness and serenity, in other words their sukha.  As I I keep learning and because each time we come to our mats is a new moment, every class is different.  The classes can be taught in English or English, you just have to let me know.

Every time I come to my mat, I find my center, my balance, my roots.  Ever since I was an infant I was on the move, experiencing lots of change and moving homes and that was not always easy .  Thanks in large part to my wonderful husband and three children  and the discovery of yoga, I realised that to feel "rooted" had nothing to do with being in a single place.  I understood that for me roots did not come from the outside and nor did they necessarily attach us to the outside world.  Our roots come from within us and let us feel good within ourselves regardless of where we are or who we are with.

Born in New York, I was lucky to experience life in England, France, the United States and most recently in Dubai.  Today my personal yoga practice  has allowed me to get to know myself better and to find a calm space both physically and mentally.

At  at the beginning of my yoga journey, I was intrigued  by the "fancy" postures and the stretch factor that I was not not getting from my  other sporting activities.  Quickly I realised that yoga brought me an internal balance  and  after  19 years of  an intense corporate career in Dubai, my family and I returned to Brittany France.  It was in Brittany that seized the opportunity to follow my passion and become a yoga teacher.

My approach as a teacher is to support and guide with a smile.  As we are all different and unique, I help each yogi find the alignment that best suits them and that will allow them to release, let go and explore the the other wonderful layers to their body.  I try to help people see the inner calm that exists within them already.  I live by the words of Mother Theresa " do little things with great love " .

For me yoga needs to be felt and I try to create moments where each yogi can;

  • Find their sukha, a place of calmness, contentedness and serenity.

  • Move with beauty because when we move with beauty we move with awareness.

  • Realise their potential as an individual and celebrate our diversity .

Another passion that I hold very close to my heart is Challengers on a Mission .  I set up a charitable project to help an amazing group of orphans with additional needs in Gonder in northern Ethiopia.  I have been visiting the children every year since 2009 to bring what I can in terms of toys, rehabilitation equipment and clothing to make their lives a little easier.  The project also sponsors a "happiness caregiver" as the orphanage is under-staffed.  It is thanks to these children that I decided to further train and specialise in children's yoga.  As a result, I am able to offer the magic of children's yoga in the local french schools as well as to the children in the orphanage.  It is also thanks to my work in local french schools that I can now finance my Ethiopia charity work.  A perfect synergy!
